Our client is a private, multi-family office based in a Northwest suburb of Chicago that serves a select group of clients. They are looking for a Manager of Financial Planning and will consider relocation benefits for a qualified candidate.
The Manager of Financial Planning (MFP) is an exceptional leadership opportunity with a dynamic and entrepreneurial $1B+ MFO that is an emerging regional leader in family wealth. The MFP will support the firm’s advisors by developing wealth plans for HNW/UHNW clients. The MFP will utilize financial planning software and a strong knowledge of wealth planning concepts to build, analyze, trouble shoot, and present detailed wealth models. Further, by designing and implementing procedures and best practices across the firm, the ideal candidate will build a “Center of Excellence” around wealth planning with an emphasis on concepts, assumptions, methodologies, tools and processes.
The MFP will continuously evolve the firm’s planning offering to meet client needs, including supervision of planning staff. They will contribute thought leadership and work collaboratively with the firm’s wealth advisors and executive leadership to continuously expand and improve their knowledge of key concepts and tools. The MFP will work collaboratively with advisors and directly with clients to gather necessary model inputs while understanding underlying questions, goals and values through an extraordinarily high level of service.
The MFP will assist the advisory team to present findings to clients, make live updates to plans during meetings, and provide insights. The candidate should have the skills and experience to compliment and support the advisory team and add valuable insights/ideas to wealthy families on all aspects of complex personal financial planning. It is important that candidates have the vision, insight, and skills to develop and optimize a planning model that serve the multifaceted needs of affluent family clients.
The firm offers a wide range of wealth management services to help simplify their clients’ financial needs and to express their family values including: investment management, financial management, philanthropy, consulting for foundations and endowments, multi-generational consulting, qualified and non-qualified retirement plan consulting, and risk management.
Candidates should have 5-10+ years of planning experience work with HNW/UHNW family clients and a consultative planning background, providing a scope of services in a multi-generational context. It is essential that candidates be a seamless cultural fit as this firm prides itself on its highly collaborative, team-based culture.
- Bachelor’s degree plus advanced planning designations or tailored education (CFP or financial planning degree) required; graduate/professional studies preferred including CPA, JD, LLM, MBA, CPWA, etc.
- Prefer minimum 5-10+ years of wealth planning and/or advisory to HNW/UHNW family clients.
- Experience working with eMoney Advisors financial planning software, Tamarac Reporting, and Tamarac CRM (Dynamics) preferred.
- Extensive experience working with family clients of significant wealth and management of integrated solutions across wealth management disciplines.
- Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative, team-based collegial culture with peers who are educated and experienced with this market segment.
- Ability to mentor, train, and develop planning center team members.
